Hello Jim,

I am embarrassed to say that I have been married almost 3 years and have not had my dress cleaned out of the fear of it being ruined. I had a spray tan done at a local salon a few days before my wedding and my wedding day was the hottest day of the year. Unfortunately the tan "melted" when I started to sweat and left a slight brown residue on the underarm area of my dress and the spaghetti straps. Does Wedclean have any experience removing this type of thing? It actually did not look very bad and was not noticeable on my wedding day but it seems as time goes on as it is stored in my closet, it is becoming more obvious. I am afraid that if I have my dress cleaned that it may make the stains worse. What do you recommend?

Thanks.
Andrea

Andrea,

After all these years, we've seen it all. We have certainly handled spray-on tanning products before. Also, we have customers that wait 3, 5, 10, and 40 years before sending there dress to us.

Your dress won't be a problem.

Thanks for writing,

Thank you thank you to Bonnie at WedClean! Our outdoor wedding reception was bombarded by wind, thunderstorms, and a water spout over the lake! The lively spirits that we are, my new husband and I couldn't call it at night at 9pm, so we kicked off our shoes and I hiked up my dress the best I could and we danced and danced and had so much fun for 4 more hours! The grass & dance floor flooded 2 feet deep, so my dress did not avoid all the mud! I thought my dress was dry when I put it in the bag in the morning as we headed on our 2 week honeymoon to Greece, but the dress was not all the way dry. When we got back it had molded! I sent it to WedClean & Bonnie kept me up to date about the progress of the dress by phone & e-mail. She was great! The dress, well the mold had gone black, and they tried so hard to get it out, but by that time there's no way to get it out. The mud and green mold came out though, and there's some little black dots on it still, but so much better than I could have imagined after what happened to it! My advice- get it cleaned right away! Don't let it sit in a bag!
Thank you Wed Clean, I know you did all you could! :)

Hello Jim,

My daughter is considering wearing her grandmother's wedding dress from 1950. The dress is very yellow and is almost all chantilly lace. Would this dress be a candidate for your vintage dress service?

Jane,

The dress is a perfect candidate for our Vintage dress service. It would be an honor! I'm looking forward to seeing it myself.

Thank you for writing.

Best regards,

I bought a designer gown on ebay that had been a floor model, so it was a fraction of the original price but had been tried on by many, many people and was nowhere close to clean. After getting cleaning quotes from various cleaners (the lowest being $400) I sent my dress off to wedclean a mere 3 weeks before my wedding with much fear and trepidation. They were amazingly good about communicating with me and keeping me updated about their progress. I got my dress well in time for the wedding, and it looked amazing - like a whole new dress. I did have to get it pressed at a drycleaner, but Bonnie at wedclean had advised me that that would probably be the case. I was very pleased with my wedclean experience and will be sending my dress there to be preserved.

Thanks!!

Wed Clean sent my dress back to me in December, but it has been a very hectic 6 months! My husband and I took a peek at it yesterday and WOW! It was cleaner than when put it on for my wedding day! I got married on Mackinac Island, Michigan and we had rain during the ceremony. Even though we were covered during the ceremony the grass was not. I stomped through mud, rain, sand and at some point my sister stepped on my dress and the RED dye from her shoe came off on my dress. If my dress was a mess then my shoes were a disaster! They were pretty dirty and they are beautiful now!

My husband and I had several discussions about the cost of preserving the dress. At the time our budget was pretty tight because we had just bought a house. He asked me how much we had spent on the cleaning and preservation and he said that it was worth every penny! There can't be a bigger compliment from my penny-pinching husband!

Thank you Wed Clean you will be recommended for my group of friends who will be tying the knot and destroying their dresses this year.

We purchased an Oleg Kassini bridal gown for my god daughter. We were told that it would take about 5 months to receive the dress. I received it in 4 to 5 WEEKS! Someone did not know the difference between month and week. Well, now I am stuck with it and my god daughter will not be married until May 2009, so I have to hold the dress just over a year. Could you tell me if a preservation kit is what I would need or what else could I do to avoid having the wedding gown get yellow or stretched due to hanging in my closet. Will a year hurt/discolor the dress in a closet? What do you suggest is best? Thank you!

Maria,

There is no need to worry. Your gown will not yellow in only one year. But do store the gown in a breathable plastic bag and have the bottom of the plastic bag rest on the floor to prevent any stretching problems. Your closet - dark, dry and cool - should work great.

After the wedding, however, you'll need to clean and preserve it in order to prevent yellowing. Did I mention we have pre-paid WedClean cards available on our website? :0)

Best wishes,

Jim,

This is such a nice forum, thank you for doing this. I have researched extensively on cleaning companies. I will soon be sending in my dress but would like you to comment on a posting I saw. All of the reviews of your company that I have found have been positive except for one where the bride was extremely upset with the DAMAGE that was done to her gown and warned us all to stay away from you. Have you had any gowns damaged in your cleaning process? Thank you!
April

April,

Thank you for your question. I'm not sure which dress you are discussing, because we have not been contacted regarding damaging a gown. We clean hundreds per month. When a dress is too delicate or otherwise problematic, we don't clean it, but instead we inform the customer and issue a refund.

What a great experience! I was having my wife's wedding dress cleaned for our 5 year anniversary. I was late sending it to Wed Clean but they did a great job of getting it ready for me before our anniversary day. Great support, great customer service and great company! Will recommend to everyone I know! John
